Course Description
Mentoring 101 is a seminar-style course where the course participants discuss the contents of the book regarding catching the spirit of one’s leader, resisting rebellion, understanding the transference of spirits, and operating in servant leadership. We will also focus on growing the ministry in three key areas: spiritual growth, attendance growth, and financial growth. Course participants will also participate in a group project to be completed at the culmination of the course.
Course Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
1. Understand the key concepts of spiritual mentoring and how to apply them in one’s ministry office(s).
2. Collaborate with ministry cohort to complete a project.
3. Understand and practice building the church in three key areas: spiritual growth, attendance growth, and financial growth.
4. Gain additional practice learning how to properly exegete a text to create a sermonette.

Course Policies
Attendance & Participation
Regular attendance and active participation are critical to student success in this course. Students are expected to:
• Attend all scheduled class sessions on time.
• Actively engage in discussions, group work, and activities.
• Come to class prepared, having completed assigned readings and homework.
• Contribute meaningfully to class discussions and respect differing perspectives.
Absences:
• Students are allowed 3 excused absences for legitimate reasons (e.g., illness, family emergency, family events, etc.). Proper documentation may be required.
• More than 3 unexcused absences may negatively impact participation grades.
• Tardiness beyond 15 minutes may be counted as an absence.
If a student anticipates missing class, they should notify the instructor in advance and make arrangements to catch up on missed work.
Academic Integrity
Academic integrity is a fundamental value of this course. Students are expected to uphold the highest standards of honesty and ethics in their coursework. Violations of academic integrity include, but are not limited to:
• Plagiarism: Submitting work that is not one’s own or failing to properly cite sources.
• Cheating: Using unauthorized materials, notes, or devices during quizzes/exams.
• Unauthorized Collaboration: Working with others on assignments that are meant to be completed individually.
• Fabrication: Falsifying data, citations, or any information used in academic work.
Consequences for Academic Misconduct:
• First offense: Warning and a reduced grade on the assignment.
• Second offense: Failure of the assignment and possible disciplinary action.
• Third offense: Failure of the course and potential reporting to Sanctuary Training Institute administration.
All students are responsible for understanding and adhering to institutional policies on academic integrity.
Technology Usage
Technology can be a valuable tool for learning but should be used responsibly in class. The following policies apply to the use of electronic devices:
• Laptops & Tablets: Allowed for notetaking and coursework only. Any non-academic use (e.g., social media, gaming, unrelated browsing) is not permitted.
• Cell Phones: Must be on silent or turned off during class. Texting, calls, and social media use are not allowed during lectures or discussions.
• Recording Devices: Audio or video recording of lectures is only allowed with instructor permission or for documented accessibility accommodations.
• Exams & Quizzes: Electronic devices are strictly prohibited unless explicitly stated by the instructor.
Repeated violations of the technology policy may result in loss of device privileges in class or impact participation grades.
